This piece was completed as a response to the Black and White Challenge hosted by Quilt Improv Studio.
Pieced improvisationally using scraps. A range of weights of cotton are used from upholstery fabric to sheeting.
The piece is hand tied using embroidery thread, and faced.

The piece is hand quilted using wool thread.

strip it is a geometric exploration based on design parameters of using full width of fabric strips, minimising waste and playing with 3 values in a seemingly random configuration.

traces is a custom commission made in 2021. It is a full queen size and entirely hand quilted.
It tells the story of 5 generations of makers through 43 lines of hand stitched text starting in the upper left hand corner.
traces speaks to the passing of knowledge from maker to maker across generations.
