QUILT DESIGN CODE

"this is who I am now"

treat yourself like a professional

Tracey is a quilter with 20+ years experience who runs her own longarm business and is looking to branch out.

Quilt Design Code showed her the detail that goes into writing a quilt pattern, and gave her the skills to be able to create her own professional quilt pattern.

It also gave her the confidence to recognise her ‘hobby’ for what it is:  a profession.

the power of learning a new skill

I have learned so much.

I also underestimated the pattern writing part of it. Things that I take for granted as a quilter that are hard to put on paper.

Learning Illustrator + Indesign, all of that was great!

Being able to draw those patterns out and put them into InDesign made me think more about that part of it.

That’s really been very helpful.

When Ally and I first talked about it, I said ‘how in depth are you going to go with Illustrator’? and you went there.

Roxanna

QUILTER of 20+ years

"I'm ready to make this a business"

Deb was seeking to reinvent her career after 20+ years as a professional graphic designer.

Done with the corporate world, but unsure about how to move forward on her own creative path, Deb joined QDC.

Unsure, lacking confidence about whether her design skills would translate into quilt patterns… Deb jumped in to QDC with both feet.

And in her words, ‘it lit a fire under me’.

Deb continues to work on quilt patterns, home textiles and fabric collections.

the power of community

How you deal with people, how you support then, how you’re open.

You invest a lot of time  in making the content as accessible as possible so people are not overwhelmed by fear

You do that excellently.

The underlying motive is just that you are here for the people that are in your course and that comes across so strongly.

You create a net and a family where I feel protected.
