  1. Have been so enjoying the replays and hope to make it to the last one. Just finished the top and couldn’t be happier with it, I’ve never had my blocks line up so cleanly and even some of my points turned out! Thank you for all the work you’ve put into making this so full of learning and fun!

    • Awesome Steph! This looks great! Congrats on your amazing progress and a great fabric pull. So pleased you enjoyed the QAL and the extra fun and learning. Can’t wait to see this all finished and bound! 🙌

  2. As I mentioned last week, my daughter surprised me with an earlier than expected arrival. So I didn’t get much sewing done, but I did get the blocks made and trimmed. Here is a picture with the blocks in the pattern layout for the baby size. I may play with the layout a bit more before sewing them together but I do like this one. When it gets finished, I’ll send an updated picture.
In the meanwhile, this has been a fun project and I expect to make another one with more interesting fabrics. Thank you, Ally, for this adventure!! See you in about eight hours!

    • Congrats Cheryl! Wonderful to see these blocks come together and I’m thrilled you enjoyed this adventure – I can’t wait to see your next version of Two Rectangles too! Well done on this one! 🙌

  3. Hi Ally, I must confess (as you well know) I haven’t made any of the live zoom calls, to my disappointment due to scheduling however have so appreciated these being recorded. Being able to watch later and feel like part of the group was a great option for me. This is my first quilt along and I must say I have enjoyed it immensely. Everyone’s participation, learning new things and you embracing everyone’s ideas and interpretations has been very inspiring.
To catch up, so to speak, attached is a collage of my progress along the way, trailing behind. My fabric picks, the black/white – high/low tones (loved learning this! very helpful), the assembled quilt top and the choice for the backing, circles of similar colors on a white background. For some reason, while I was at the sewing machine, this combination seemed kind of nautical…as in ship flags. I picked these fabrics from my stash thinking they would make a great summer quilt, using colors of the sun and sea. Perfect for here in California.
Appreciate being part of this group even through the replays! 🙂

    • Raydeen! This looks wonderful! Congrats on a fabulous Two Rectangles!!! Love those bright colours, and yes, very nautical! Thanks for joining us all the way from California. Super honoured to have you make a quilt from my pattern, and so glad you have enjoyed the Quiltalong. 🙌

    • Congratulations Janice! This is super! Love that binding and how it makes you look at the patterned fabric even closer. Thanks so much for being a super part of the Quiltalong – it has been such a pleasure to get to know you during the past few weeks sewing together. 🙌

    • Wow Susie – congrats on a fab finish! I love the flips you put in, and your own take on the original design. Some great figure/ground going on with that wonderful patterned ‘background’ fabric. Wonderful to have you as part of this QAL- thanks for bringing your creativity to the table! 🙌

      • Thanks Ally for a great event. Sadly, I won’t be on the final call as I am flying to Birmingham “Festival of Quilts”. I finished the quilt top a couple of weeks ago but have made no further progress except to decide that I will bind in green.

        • Congrats Melinda on a spectacular quilt! Looking super sleek here. It’s been wonderful meeting you on the calls, safe travels to FOQ and enjoy all the inspiration! Look forward to seeing this Two Rectangles all finished up when you get back. 🙌
