My fabric pull. I was struggling between the grey and the cream as both worked. Finally decision was made when grey was perfect for another project.
Love it! The quilting universe has spoken! Looking forward to seeing this all stitched up.
Wanted to make a kids quilt — I think these will work in terms of colour. They also are a range of scales (not the reptile kind).
Looking good Sonja! Not the reptile kind – haha – love this. Great colours together and interesting to see that darker yellow as having a lighter value! Always surprising! See you on our next call!
Sorry, both photos would not load together
LOVE this Brenda – great colours…. And Love that you are using a fabric that has been in the stash for years. It’s always a good feeling when the right fabric fits the right project at the right time! Woo hoo! Scrappy backing for the win!
This print fabric has been in my stash for many years. I love it and purchased others in the same line with the intention of making a quilt. I don’t know what pattern I was planning to use, so have only touched it every now and then, waiting for the right project The time is now. The other fabrics will make a scrappy backing.
So good – look at the value scale!
Hi Ally,
I made this threadcatcher today. Thanks for posting the instructions. They were easy to follow.
Awesome Carole! So handy! I’ll warn you though… making them can be addictive! haha!
And… here is my fabric selection in color. I posted the black and white just previously. The cat is black and white for contrast. His name is Reba.
Well, hello there Reba. Great choices here Carole . love how the mid and high value pick out the print in the low value fabric. Nice one!
Here’s a black and white photo of the fabrics I have selected. The lightest one is hand-dyed using black walnuts. The medium one is a solid. The darkest one is, I think, a batik. All three fabrics are reversible.
Very cool. Love a good home dyed fabric!
I can’t join in the live sessions but learned so much from watching, thanks for making that available. Here are my fabrics, I’m excited!
Wonderful Steph! SO pleased you enjoyed the session! Wow wow wow! Look at these fabrics! Great mid fabric which references the low and high values. Really great combo! Just keep in mind the directional fabric layout when it comes to cutting for your stripes… We’ll be walking through that in Week 2 (and I’ll have the replay up as well in case you can’t join us this week). Rock on!
Ally, the first session was great for me. I learned so much about value,I hope it helps me with future quilts. I can’t wait for more!
Fab choice here Janice – great to see this on the call and looking forward to seeing that mid value fabric really POP! So pleased you enjoyed the session. See you again for the next one!
I pulled some crystal fabric from my stash, but found something I thought might work better with the other fabrics I had on hand. I’ll be keen to see how the crystals work out!
Sounds fun! How cool is fabric???!!!
Here is my fabric pull in colour and in black and white. I just watched the first part of the quilt a long, which I missed and enjoyed the information about value, which is all new to me. I had been thinking only about saturation of colours, which is different, I now realise!
Sadly, I will miss this coming Tuesday 8th but will watch before I chop up my fabric according to the pattern, which I have.
Many thanks!
Rebecca
Great to see these Rebecca and so pleased you were able to catch-up on the first part of the call. Look forward to seeing you for the week 3 call. IN the meantime, I’ll have the week 2 replay up asap. Just keep in mind the direction of your wiggles – if you want them all to go the same way, take note of the alternate cutting layout for directional fabrics. I’ll be walking through that in the week 2 video. Very cool selection here.

The first two pictures are the 1st set of fabrics I selected. I selected two solids and one with a small print. After seeing what other fabrics were selected by other attendees, I decided to go back to my stash and go a little bolder. Those are the second set of fabrics. I may have to post a 2nd comment for both sets to show up.

Nice one Cheryl! Interesting to see the difference in the two choices. LOVE that you’re going bold. That low value (the big bold print) is epic! So cool to see this come together. Thanks for posting and hope to see you on the call this week !
I’m loving these colors. I don’t have enough of the print to cut all of the mid value pieces, so the tiny scrap of solid below the print is my alternate. I will either use the print as the binding or perhaps scatter a few print pieces throughout the top. Need to see some triangles on the design wall before I decide.
Cool Katie – great choices here and yes to ‘scattering’ some of that print throughout. The sheen/sparkle on the low value is great too – references the high value fabric! Nice one!
